The Promenade

Bengaluru, Karnataka

The arrival promenade transforms the hotel’s edge into an inhabitable threshold between landscape and lobby. Rather than defining a clear boundary, it establishes a layered zone where movement, shade and reflection mediate the transition between exterior and interior.

A repetitive truss establishes the structural order of the canopy, its steel frame carrying a bamboo lattice that forms the soffit and the visible rhythm of the walk. The varying length of the suspended bamboo struts continually recalibrates the perceived depth of the soffit, lending the canopy a quiet sense of movement as visitors progress along the promenade.

Running alongside the glazed façade, the bamboo lattice is reflected and visually extended, dissolving the apparent edge of the building. As the visitor moves through the promenade, shifting patterns of light, shadow and reflection alter spatial perception. The boundary between landscape and interior remains intentionally ambiguous. The result is an arrival sequence where structure, material and atmosphere converge to construct an architecture of transition rather than enclosure.
